In my humble opinion, the chandeliers of a home don’t always get the recognition they deserve. They not only bring light to a home but can also help set the tone and style of a home.  The beauty great chandeliers bring cannot be overstated. They can take a room from reserved to dramatic or from contemporary to glamorous. It all depends on you.

Many people will spend a lot of time finding the perfect flooring, furniture, drapes etc. But chandeliers are often overlooked. They are viewed as utilitarian. Lighting over the dining room – check. Lighting over the kitchen island – check, check.  Oh, but there’s so much more.

Today we are seeing chandeliers used in so many different rooms and in so many fun ways. From the kitchen and dining room to the bedroom and bathroom. Guest bedroom, absolutely. Over the bathtub, how could you not! Library, yes please.  Dollar for dollar these beacon’s of light can really pack a punch.   In working on many remodeling jobs over the years we have seen the difference great chandeliers can make not only in the beauty of a room but how it is viewed by others. Nothing can create excitement in a room as much as a beautiful chandelier.

You don’t have to break the bank. It isn’t how much you spend on your chandelier but how much you love it.  As for me, well I have five, six, ok seven, and am always looking for that next delicious chandelier to bring home.

It was also a high traffic area, so it really cut down on my design options. Many considered it a “throw away” wall.

Since the people flipping this home were involved in the music industry, I started looking at design ideas with that in mind.

Putting together an attractive and inviting bedroom isn’t as hard as you think. It all starts with what should be your focal point, the bed. From iron to upholstered or contemporary to architectural, you need a great bed. Just remember, a great bed doesn’t have to be expensive, it just needs to express your personality.  Next you want to make sure your bed is positioned correctly. I can’t tell you how many times I go into a bedroom and the bed is placed so that it cuts the room in half, or, makes the room feel off balance.
